Sorsogon City Consultation on Climate Change Actions

Sorsogon, May 15 2009 — The Local Government of Sorsogon City, in partnership with the UN Habitat-Philippines, conducted the two-day workshop/consultation on climate change actions on May 14-15, 2009 at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Seminary in Sorsogon City, Sorsogon, Philippines.

Stakeholders both from Albay and Sorsogon, representatives from different peoples organizations, government line agencies, local officials, media practitioners, academicians and local leaders participated in the multi-stakeholder consultation and shared their experiences, concerns, and ideas on climate change.

Localizing Marine Litter Actions: An experience-based guide for city or municipal-level localization of the Philippines National Plan of Action on Marine Litter

Aligned with the planning process of local government units (LGUs), it captures the process of developing the City Plan of Action on Marine Litter (CPOA-ML) from creating the planning team, situational analysis and baselining, visioning, capacity development, action identification, until approval and adoption. It provides recommendations for enhancements of existing local policies and mainstreaming into other local plans.

People’s Process in Community-based Plastics Circularity Social Enterprise Development

Developed under the Healthy Oceans and Clean Cities Initiative, this paper looks at how the People’s Process became a significant driver for community-based plastics circularity social enterprise development. It has specifically looked at organizations in HOCCI’s partner cities of Manila, Calapan, Davao, Legazpi, Cagayan de Oro, and Ormoc.
