LIVE FROM TACLOBAN: Public Forum on Tacloban’s Draft Recovery and Rehabilitation Plan

“It’s time to converge and think about a sustainable Tacloban.” – Laids Cea, UN-Habitat Project Coordinator

Tacloban, March 21 2014 — Today, the draft Tacloban Recovery and Rehabilitation Plan will be presented to the public. All stakeholders and those interested are invited to attend. Details are as follows:

Venue: Tacloban Astrodome

Speakers: City Mayor Hon. Alfred Romualdez, local government officers from Tacloban, and UN Habitat

Expected attendees: National government representatives, humanitarian organizations, city and barangay officials,members of the private sector, academe, and Taclobanons in general

Special thanks to: ARCADIS and ASSURE groups for assisting in the development of the plan. This project is also made possible by funding from UNDP.

Localizing Marine Litter Actions: An experience-based guide for city or municipal-level localization of the Philippines National Plan of Action on Marine Litter

Aligned with the planning process of local government units (LGUs), it captures the process of developing the City Plan of Action on Marine Litter (CPOA-ML) from creating the planning team, situational analysis and baselining, visioning, capacity development, action identification, until approval and adoption. It provides recommendations for enhancements of existing local policies and mainstreaming into other local plans.

People’s Process in Community-based Plastics Circularity Social Enterprise Development

Developed under the Healthy Oceans and Clean Cities Initiative, this paper looks at how the People’s Process became a significant driver for community-based plastics circularity social enterprise development. It has specifically looked at organizations in HOCCI’s partner cities of Manila, Calapan, Davao, Legazpi, Cagayan de Oro, and Ormoc.
