Rebuilding Marawi Vol 3: Livelihood and Economic Recovery

Livelihood and Economic Recovery: Stimulating Internally Displaced Persons in Marawi through Cooperatives’ Startup Capital and Capacity-building documents the two-track implementation of its livelihood support to 33 cooperatives through the People’s Process approach.

Interspersed with narratives of their members, the handbook introduces the cooperatives and the livelihoods they operate, the challenges amidst the pandemic even as they still are in the process of recovery from the devastation of the armed conflict, and how they resolve common issues as they move forward with their chosen businesses. The dimensions of gender and inclusion, peacebuilding, cultural sensitivity, and environment are interwoven in the various livelihoods.

Livelihood and Economic Recovery is the third of the six-volume publication developed from UN-Habitat Philippines’ comprehensive knowledge and experience in implementing the Rebuilding Marawi through Community-driven Shelter and Livelihood. Funded by the Government of Japan, the Rebuilding Marawi project provided permanent shelters and livelihood support to families internally displaced by the Marawi Siege.
