Rebuilding Marawi Vol 2: Promoting Peace

Promoting Peace: Training Manual on Basic Community Peace Education and Basic Community Dialogue Facilitation is a training manual on the two elements of the peace and development framework of the Rebuilding Marawi through Community-driven Shelter and Livelihood Project: basic community peace education and basic community dialogue facilitation.

The Training on Basic Community Peace Education is designed for community members impacted by the Marawi siege as a capacity building support to help communities make sense of their experiences, identify the future of their community, and pursue a path of dialogue and non-violence.

The Training on Basic Community Dialogue Facilitation aims to develop a corps of dialogue facilitators among resettled internally displaced persons through their newly-formed Homeowners Association (HOA) and host communities in Marawi. The module discusses the steps of a dialogue process in-depth, including practical exercises on critical thinking and listening, consensus building, and advanced communication techniques.

Promoting Peace is the second of the six-volume publication developed from UN-Habitat Philippines’ comprehensive knowledge and experience in implementing the Rebuilding Marawi through Community-driven Shelter and Livelihood. Funded by the Government of Japan, the Rebuilding Marawi project provided permanent shelters and livelihood support to families internally displaced by the Marawi Siege.
