About the Marine Litter Learning Kit
Marine litter is a big problem, and it requires big solutions. Solutions begin with awareness – awareness on the issue and awareness that leads to action. The Marine Litter Learning Kit: A Facilitator’s Guide was designed to for educators and facilitators who organize environmental education programs that focus on marine litter. Composed of 10 activities, the learning kit aims to engage facilitators and learners in raising awareness on marine litter and its impacts, and actions towards marine litter reduction. The Marine Litter Learning Kit was developed as part of the Healthy Oceans and Clean Cities Initiative (HOCCI), a project implemented by UN-Habitat Philippines with funding from the Government of Japan. It was developed by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) with the support from Save Philippine Seas and UN-Habitat.
About Healthy Oceans and Clean Cities Initiative (HOCCI)
HOCCI aims to reduce marine plastic litter (MPL) by strengthening institutional capacity to contribute to the operationalization and localization of the National Plan of Action on Marine Litter (NPOA-ML). Towards this goal, the project works to enhance awareness and capacity of citizens, communities, and the private sector to support reduction of MPL.
