UN-Habitat’s work in the Philippines has supported the transformative power of investing in women towards fostering a sustainable urban future. Women have spearheaded urban planning initiatives, championed climate resilience efforts, and facilitated livelihood opportunities, exemplifying their indispensable role in shaping our communities.
Equally important is enabling economic opportunities for all women, safeguarding their resilience to conflict, climate change, disasters, and economic shocks.
This International Women’s Day, UN-Habitat Philippines joins the global call to #InvestInWomen. Investing in women must not just be a choice but a necessity for cultivating inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities. In our pledge to leave no one and no place behind, especially women and girls who comprise half of the population, we acknowledge that progress for women is progress for all.
