Promoting Slum Upgrading Frameworks Favorable to the Urban Poor (2002 to 2004)

This was a UN-HABITAT funding ($150,000) and technical support through the Philippine Homeless Peoples Federation (PHPF) to document the experiences of organized slum upgrading approaches by slum dwellers themselves, specifically to analyze the methods of social mobilization in informal settlements and slums.

The financial models for slum upgrading, and the mechanisms for popular/public partnerships that give rise to asset generation, improvements in shelter, security of tenure, and access to basic services. The project was also intended to enable slum dweller organizations, support NGOs, and government officials to translate these practices into frameworks and municipal action plans for citywide slum upgrading. ‚Äč
